Matt P. Wand is a Distinguished Professor of Statistics at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. He has held faculty appointments at Harvard University, Rice University, Texas A&M University, the University of New South Wales and the University of Wollongong. Professor Wand is an elected fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. He was awarded two of the Australian Academy of Science's medals for statistical research: the Moran Medal in 1997 and the Hannan Medal in 2013. In 2014 he was awarded the Statistical Society of Australia's Pitman Medal. He has served as an associate editor for several journals including Biometrika, Journal of the American Statistical Association and Statistica Sinica. He has co-authored more than 130 journal articles and 10 R packages on kernel smoothing and related areas.

Chris Jones is now Emeritus Professor after 29 years as Lecturer, then Reader then Professor of Statistical Science at The Open University, U.K. He previously held post-doctoral positions at the Universities of Birmingham and Bath, U.K., and at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, U.S.A. Professor Jones is an elected fellow of the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and an elected member of the International Statistical Institute. He has served as joint editor of the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B, and as an associate editor for fifteen other journals, including Annals of the Institute of Statistical Mathematics, Biometrika, Statistica Sinica and Statistics and Probability Letters. He has authored or co-authored around 185 journal articles and two text books.
