About the Authors
Dr. Harezlak is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and an Assistant Dean of Research Analytics at the Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington, U.S.A. After 2 years of post-doctoral training at the Harvard School of Public Health, he joined Indiana University where he has been since. He has held visiting appointments at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, U.S.A. and at University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia. Currently, he is also an adjunct professor at the University of Wroclaw, Poland. His interests span a number of medical areas including mild traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative diseases and physical activity evaluation via wearable devices as well as statistical areas including semiparametric regression, functional data analysis, brain imaging and signal processing of intensively-collected longitudinal data. Dr Harezlak serves as an associate editor for PLoS One and Biostatistics and Epidemiology .
David Ruppert is Andrew Schulz Jr. Professor of Engineering, School of Operations Research and Information Engineering, and Professor of Statistical Science, Cornell University, U.S.A. He held a previous faculty position at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and received the Wilcoxon Prize in 1986. Professor Ruppert has worked on stochastic approximation, transformations and weighting in regression, and smoothing. His current research focuses on astrostatistics, neuroscience, measurement error models, splines, functional data analysis, semiparametric regression, and environmental statistics. He has been editor of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics Lecture Notes and Monographs, the Electronic Journal of Statistics and the Journal of the American Statistical Association Theory & Methods. Ruppert is an author of 6 books including the Semiparametric Regression companion methodology book.
