Jaroslaw Harezlak

Dr. Harezlak is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington, U.S.A. After graduating from Harvard University and two years of post-doctoral training at the Harvard School of Public Health, he joined Indiana University where he has been since. He has held administrative appointments as an Interim Chair and an Assistant Dean of Research Analytics as well as visiting appointments at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, U.S.A. and at University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia. Currently, he is also an adjunct professor at the University of Wrocław, Poland. His interests span several medical areas including mild traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative diseases and physical activity evaluation via wearable devices as well as statistical areas including regularization methods, semiparametric regression and functional data analysis. Dr Harezlak serves as an associate editor for PLoS One and Biostatistics and Epidemiology.

David Ruppert is Andrew Schulz Jr. Professor of Engineering, School of Operations Research and Information Engineering, and Professor of Statistical Science, Cornell University, U.S.A. He held a previous faculty position at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and received the Wilcoxon Prize in 1986. Professor Ruppert has worked on stochastic approximation, transformations and weighting in regression, and smoothing. His current research focuses on astrostatistics, neuroscience, measurement error models, splines, functional data analysis, semiparametric regression, and environmental statistics. He has been editor of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics Lecture Notes and Monographs, the Electronic Journal of Statistics and the Journal of the American Statistical Association Theory & Methods. Ruppert is an author of 6 books including the Semiparametric Regression companion methodology book.

Matt P. Wand is a Distinguished Professor of Statistics at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. He has held faculty appointments at Harvard University, Rice University, Texas A&M University, the University of New South Wales and the University of Wollongong. Professor Wand is an elected fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. He was awarded two of the Australian Academy of Science's medals for statistical research: the Moran Medal in 1997 and the Hannan Medal in 2013. In 2014 he was awarded the Statistical Society of Australia's Pitman Medal. He has served as an associate editor for several journals including Biometrika, Journal of the American Statistical Association and Statistica Sinica. Wand co-wrote the Semiparametric Regression companion methodology and theory book. He has co-authored more than 130 journal articles and 10 R packages on semiparametric regression and related areas.
